In June 4 - 8, 2007 - the 5th Klaudia Taev International Competition for Young Singers took place. The 30 participants came from 21 countries: Austria, Belarus, Canada, China, Cyprus, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, South-Korea, Spain, Ukraine and Estonia. 

As a part of the Competition the opera production of Carmen by G. Bizet was staged in Theatre Endla with the best singers of the 5th Klaudia Taev Competition Anzhelina Shvachka (Ukraine) and Huiling Zhu (China) performing the role of Carmen. Escamillo was sang by the winner of the 4th Competition Laimonas Pautienius (Lithuania) and Tatyana Romanova (2nd prize on the 4th Competition) performed the role of Micaela.

1st and 3rd prize were presented by the 21st Century Orchestra, 2nd prize was sponsored by Oriflame Estonia.
